Other spelling
error An error stops the build: nothing is published until it is fixed.
A field or setting uses a word Statac spells another way, or the writing
has a marker such as <!--more--> spelled another way, as <!-- More -->.
On a card, Statac writes colour and centre, never color or
center. A stamp in front matter is written =today or =monday 09:00,
never =Today, =mon, =next monday or =monday 9am.
A Markdown file opening with a +++ line, as another tool writes front
matter, is refused, and its page isn’t built.
Statac has one spelling for each of its own words, and this isn’t it.
What you’ll see
error Unknown field: `template`
Statac calls this `layout`.
More: https://statac.dev/e/other-spelling/
In the terminal the message also names the file and line where there is one, and marks the exact text.
Why Statac stops
Statac never takes a second spelling of its own words, however clear the meaning. A site that used both would leave everyone who reads its files to learn both. The message names Statac’s spelling.
How to fix it
Write the field, or the marker, as the message gives it.
Front matter between +++ lines is written again as YAML between ---
lines: title = 'Post 1' becomes title: Post 1.
Example
In content/post-1.md:
---
title: Post 1
template: post
---
Statac calls this layout:
---
title: Post 1
layout: post
---
